Tumuaki-a-rohe Te Roopu Iriiri Tamaki Makaurau me Te Tai Tokerau
The role of the Regional Leader is focussed on the ministry and mission of the faith communities primarily within their region. This is done for the most part, as a team, through developing strong relationships with local church elders and pastors, and supporting local faith communities to achieve: Robust Leadership, Effective Mission, Growing Discipleship and Healthy Resources.
The Regional Leader is the Executive of the Northern Baptist Association (NBA), and is accountable to their faith communities through the NBA Chair and Board, and is the team leader of the NBA staff team.
The Regional Leader is also part of the national leadership team working alongside the National Leader, other Regional Leaders and the National Support Centre Lead Team. Together the national leadership team help develop national strategic priorities to be implemented locally. They also nurture strong links with Baptist Union entities such as Arotahi, Carey, Lifelong Learning and specific ministry leads.
Our current leader
Tena koe, malo le soifua ma le lagi e mama,
It is an honour to serve the 97 diverse faith communities of the Northern Baptist Association, who embody our ecclesiology as the people of God in the places we have been planted.
We have been working over the last three years to grow our associating through regional hui, relational networks (clusters), and other gatherings. Associating, working towards our maturity and unity in our diversity is a key value for our association. Another core value is being a people of covenant. Missionally, we want to encourage everyone to be able to tell the story of Jesus in their lives, families and communities, and to be bold in doing so. We are keen to partner with Māori in mission and to develop leadership among our folk at the local level, to ensure our faith communities are able to be lead well into the future. We acknowledge the gift we have in our ethnic diversity as well as our missional opportunites and perogative to grow young.
Ehara tāku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini.
(My strength is not as an individual, but as a collective.)
